The yoga style studios are staffed by torticollis experts and overseen by our specialized, board certified pediatricians.
How is Torticollis Treated?
Torticollis treatment begins with an extensive evaluation and treatment plan created by our physical therapists that specialize in torticollis. Close to 100% of children with positional plagiocephaly have some form of torticollis or neck instability. Physical therapy for torticollis or neck imbalance is a vital component to the comprehensive treatment plan. When indicated, proper physical therapy for torticollis has been shown to reduce the incidence of flat heads and severe head deformation by 46%.
Our physical therapists are all torticollis experts and understand the complexities of plagiocephaly. You and your child will receive private instruction, participate in our optional yoga style group classes, and will be given instructions for at home daily exercises. If our experts feel that your baby will benefit from physical therapy for the treatment of neck issues, they will be admitted into our Turtle Academy.
What is Private Physical Therapy for Torticollis?
The central component of Turtle Academy is your baby’s private physical therapy classes. Your physical therapist will guide you and your baby through the necessary exercises while continuously monitoring your child’s improvement. Your therapist will also provide instructions for at home daily therapy, a vital component of your baby’s treatment. If you choose, you may stop by the Turtle Academy each day to perform your “at home” exercises in one of our group therapy classes.
What is Group Physical Therapy for Torticollis?
In an effort to make your experience as stress-free as possible, we created a physical therapy studio with optional, daily group classes. When your baby is enrolled in the Turtle Academy, you are welcome to come to these classes any time you wish. Group therapy classes provide the opportunity to perform your “at home” physical therapy exercises in a group environment. This helps many mothers and fathers feel more comfortable and less intimidated with the exercises needed for your child’s treatment. Plus, you will get to meet and interact with other parents in the same situation.
